Thanksgiving 2012

Our friends Kim & Joe and baby Elizabeth came down from Colorado to hang out with us during Thanksgiving.  It was so fun to catch-up and see the kids playing together.

Like most people, Thursday was dedicated to preparing and eating a big feast.  It was the first time I had ever roasted a turkey so I was a little nervous.  Kimi was nice enough to take pictures of the preparations.

Here's the food and layout.  The best part about Thanksgiving isn't any one dish, but how amazingly they all go together.  The stuffing, mashed potatoes, turkey, they taste so much better next to one another.  The timing of dinner worked out well too because it landed right around nap time.

After the kids went to bed we were able to catch-up on all the game playing we had missed out these many months.  If you haven't played Sour Apples to Apples you might want to, it's pretty fun.

On Friday Albert got up early and bought a bunch stuff.  He also shopped at Lowes and True Value on-line the night before, which was great.  He got all the deals he wanted and then picked the stuff up at the store so he didn't have to pay shipping.  He was able to use on-line coupons and when he picked up his purchases from Lowes they gave him a military discount on top of the already great deals.  He went a little crazy buying toys for Quentin and now we have all his Christmas and birthday presents.  Later that morning we all went to the mall and spent all our money at Bath & Body Works.  I'm a little obsessed with their candles lately.

Quentin had a great time playing with Elizabeth.  Every morning he was anxious to go downstairs to see her and he still waves and says "hi" to her pictures.  They had a good time playing with our computer chair, taking turns pushing each other around and around.  So cute!  It would be awesome if they lived closer, these two would play all the time.  Just look at the cuteness.

I agree with your thoughts on needing all of the dishes together. Leftover mashed potatoes by themselves are not nearly as exciting.

I love all the pictures, the kiddos look like they had tons of fun together!

Just like old times, it was great getting together! We wish future playdates wouldn't require an 8 hour drive :)

Thanks for a wonderful weekend. You were excellent hosts and Elizabeth surely misses her buddy.
