National Air & Space Museum

For Father's Day weekend we took a trip out to Chantilly to visit the National Air & Space Museum, the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, by Dulles International Airport.  Since Albert is an aviation fan I figured this would be a fun activity for us.  If you go after 4 pm you can skip the $15 parking fee so the entire trip is gratis.

Albert learned all the names of all the different types of planes in one of his air traffic control classes so he had fun spotting all the planes he knew.

The highlight of the museum is the space shuttle.  Very cool.

Quentin took a nice long nap during our entire tour, but that didn't deter us from taking lots of pictures of him in front of all the different planes.

We want to go again so we can get the tour of the tower which overlooks Dulles.  The last tour is at 4:30 pm so you have to be on the ball as soon as you get there.  It's a great place to avoid the crowds.  There weren't that many people there and the guy at the information desk said that it was pretty busy the day we went.

That does seem like a perfect Father's Day weekend outing. I think Q looks like an air traffic controller in his carseat -- maybe it's all the padding by his ears. Who knows, maybe you'll have two ATCs on your hands.
