Demo Time! The Kitchen
Our contractor said that they are working on the tiling today so we're going to go by tonight and check out the progress. For our kitchen we decided not to paint the cupboards. I thought it would be too much work and there is a good chance that they might turn out bad so I didn't want to risk it. So having honey colored cupboards threw off my color scheme a little, but we kept most of it.
As a reminder this is what the before pictures of the kitchen looked like:
Very soon we will have granite counter tops that will look something like this (hopefully not so much green):
We are getting a bigger double bowl undermounted sink with this faucet:

We've requested dark grey subway tiles for our back splash:

The flooring should look something like this:
12” x12” sea salt endure |
While Albert's family was in town we had his brother-in-law and ex-hhgregg employee to hhgregg to help us negotiate on our stainless steel appliances. If you are a federal employee/military you can get a discount. Be sure to ask.
This is our fridge:
Frigidaire 20.6 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Top-Freezer Refrigerator |
Here's our stove:
Whirlpool 30" Stainless Steel Gas Range |
Here is our overhead mounted microwave. We will have the contractors move up the cupboard above the stove so hopefully it doesn't look too weird. We just don't have enough counter space for a microwave any other way.
LG 1.6 Cu. Ft. 1,000-Watt Stainless Steel Over-the-Range Microwave with Dual Distribution Technology |
We are going to get a new stainless steel dishwasher too, we just haven't done it yet. We are still opening up the kitchen, but we decided to open up the whole wall on the right side and going around into the dining room. We are going to add an island with cupboards that look like the ones we have already and covered with the same granite as the counter tops.
It will sort of look like this remodeled condo, but hopefully without the pole there and we're keeping the wall by the fridge.
We decided to get this chandelier for the dining room:
Commercial Electric 5-Light Chandelier |
We're still deciding on paint colors but we're thinking either blue or grey for this room too. We'll have to take the paint samples and see how they match up with the cupboards and the tile.
