Much Ado About Nothing
Wednesday, October 21 we went to see Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing at Folger Theatre on Capitol Hill as part of the Free Night of Theatre. It was set in the Caribbean so I really had to pay attention at first to understand what they were saying. Shakespeare language + Caribbean accent = really hard to understand. It was a fun play, although a bit long, and I thought the actors did a good job. My favorites were Benedict (Howard W. Overshown) and Claudio (Alexis Camins).
During intermission we checked out their exhibit Imagining China: The View from Europe, 1550-1700, which was books, maps, and pictures of how Europe envisioned China. They had a few missionaries there that sent back letters, etc, but like the game of telephone things definitely misinterpreted.
