Our world lately

This weekend was a little more relaxed than the last one. On Saturday we hit up zumba with Kim&Joe and our friend Kellee also joined us. We were in the front row this time so there was a lot of pressure to do good. Albert and I finally made it up to the LDS Temple, we've been trying to go for months. I felt so good and happy afterwards. That evening I stayed home and hung out while Albert went and played poker sponsored by the USO. He didn't win anything, but had fun.

On Sunday I did my visiting teaching in the afternoon before church and then we had nursery duty. There was one little girl who hadn't been to nursery for awhile and her mom warned me that she would probably cry a lot and eventually I'd have to take her back to her. That's exactly what happened. I tried to sooth her and distract her while she screamed bloody murder for 30 minutes. I think everyone was relieved when I took her back. I generally have luck getting them to calm down, but not this time. The other kids were happy and well-behaved, but we were still super tired when we got home.

We've spent a lot of time conversing and listening to things about the new health care plan and all the town hall meetings. {Discussing politics is something Albert and I really enjoy. We like to debate as well, but since we agree on everything we don't debate each other, probably better that way.} While I'm for some reforms, this particular bill leaves so much open for government interpretation that it scares me. I don't trust the government when it comes to most things and after visiting hospitals in Italy I sure don't want socialized medicine. Everyone I know that has socialized medicine also has privatized health insurance because the socialized medicine that they pay for with increased taxes is bad &/or inaccessible. I'd like to see some increased regulation on insurances, but not a total revamp of what we already have. The Netherlands and Switzerland seem to have some good ideas.

My birthday is this Sunday and I'll be 29. Sort of monumental I think, we should plan something fun next year. I'm starting to get free stuff from various email lists. Tonight we'll be going to get my free Pad Thai from Noodles & Company and sometime before the end of the month we'll hit up Cold Stone for my free ice cream. Birthdays are great!

We're going to Wyoming on Thursday morning. I am so excited! I haven't decided if I'm more excited to go to Wyoming or just to leave DC for a bit. Mostly I think it's the whole not working for a week that is really cool. My parents have planned all sorts of fun things to do while we're there. We're going to go rafting on the Flaming Gorge and visit my Grandma in Ephraim, UT and of course I'll get to meet my new nephew and celebrate my birthday.
