One Year Anniversary Dinner

A year ago today we were here...

...on our honeymoon! Honeymoons are wonderful, so relaxing. We had a lot of fun in Las Vegas going to three Cirque du Soleil shows, eating at fancy restaurants, and checking out all the cool casinos. On May 20, 2008 we took an incredible trip to the Grand Canyon that involved planes, helicopters, and boats.

In honor of our one year anniversary this weekend, Albert and I went to dinner at the Melting Pot. Neither of us had been there, but we had been talking about checking it out for awhile. (note: you can get a 20% discount on Mondays with a military ID)

Unfortunately we didn't bring our camera so we had to take all the pictures with my cell phone.

We got a four course meal starting out with the Quattro Formaggio Cheese Fondue:

It was my favorite part of the meal and we devoured every last drop. Instead of bread the server brought us out corn chips and made sure all our food was gluten-free. She was very nice. We mentioned that we were going out for our anniversary and they gave us a card that everyone had signed. Very cool.

We then had Caprese Salad, which was pretty tasty. I was getting full and wanted to leave room so I didn't eat all the lettuce:

Here's the main course (Albert's favorite). We ordered the Fondue Fusion which included Lobster Tail, Filet Mignon Florentine, Limoncello Balsamic Sirloin, Shrimp Diablo, Sun-dried Tomato Chicken, Orange Fennel Pork Tenderloin, Porcini and Portobello Sacchetti (they accidentally brought us the pasta, but we didn't eat it), and fresh vegetables:

...which chose the coq au vin cooking style which includes mushrooms and seasonings you see swimming on top (it doesn't look tasty in this high quality image, but it was):

Last but not least was the dessert. We order the Flaming Turtle fondue, which includes milk chocolate, caramel and chopped pecans.

Here's the server getting the chocolate ready right after it was flambéed:

Since I can't eat the cake and brownies that are usually included as dippers, our plate included strawberries, bananas, and marshmallows. The strawberries were definitely my favorite:

We liked it so much, the pan looked like this when we were done:

We were full almost the entire day after we went. Not bad for an anniversary dinner...steak, shrimp, lobster, and chocolate covered strawberries :)
