Boston (Saturday)

Saturday morning Albert and I went down to Park Street and followed the Freedom Trail down to the North End (aka Little Italy). You'd think following a red line on the ground would be easy enough, but we ended up having to buy a map after we discovered a fork in the trail in one spot and a fake trail that led to a tourist information center in another. So if you're planning to go on the Freedom Trail you might want to print out some information before you head out.

First up was a cool cemetery with the headstones of a few famous Americans:

From L to R: Mother Goose's husband's first wife, Paul Revere, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams

Ben Franklin's parents grave

Up the street is the King's Chapel founded in 1686. According to the sign out front "Its first building was the First Church of England in Boston. The corner stone of the present building was laid August 11, 1749. AFter the Revolution it became the First Unitarian Church in the United States."

The big gold domed building is the State Capitol (or where Mitt Romney used to work):

I found a Starbucks along the trail and decided it was time to check out their new gluten free Valencia orange cake.

It was a tasty snack that both Albert and I enjoyed:

We passed by the Boston Irish Famine Memorial:

With the pigeons hanging out on the statues it looked like they were less desperate about the lack of food and more worried about the birds attacking them.

Looking back from the North End:

Paul Revere's Pad in the North End:

While we were in Little Italy we decided to get something to eat. We searched around the many restaurants and finally found a cheap one that sold risotto (one of the few Italian dishes you don't have to worry about having gluten in it).

On our way back to the metro we stopped by Mike's Pastry and picked up a cannoli for Albert and a peanut butter cup for me (the chocolate was cheap so mine wasn't that tasty, but Albert's was of course very good):

A picture while we were waiting for the T:

After our adventures along the Freedom Trail we headed back to Rebecca's to pick up our luggage. Our friend Cianna who I used to work with when she lived in DC, came to pick us up and took us to her place to stay.

We went with Cianna, her boyfriend, and her friend to the new Terminator Salvation movie at a 21 and up movie theatre. It was pretty cool. For $20 you get unlimited popcorn and soda and big leather seats with your own little table incase you want to order a hamburger or nachos that they will bring out to you. The movie was pretty good. Some other people didn't like it as well as the other Terminator movies and found it to be pretty complicated. I thought it tied the series together nicely.

That night we went to a bar at the Inter Continental Hotel in Boston for one of their friend's birthdays and then Albert and I snuck off and got sushi at a restaurant also in the hotel. Good times :D
