Puerto Rico -- Day 3 (Arecibo)

We rented a car and drove to the Arecibo Observatory on Sunday. Our plan was to also hit up the caverns nearby but when we got there we found out they were flooded so we moved on to the observatory. You may know it from some Jody Foster movie about discovering aliens that I've never seen or it's been shown in a James Bond movie that I've probably seen, but can't remember.

They had a little movie they showed about how scientists look for tiny blips on a graph and how that means they've discovered a galaxy. It was one of those boring movies they show you in school, but they added some Puerto Rican music which was nice. I had a hard time understanding what the purpose of the radio telescope was exactly from the little museum they had explaining it and the movie wasn't much clearer.

It was kinda cool seeing the actual radio telescope (the largest in the world) and the nature around it was really pretty. We had drive up this really windy narrow road getting to it and got to see lots of houses.

Here we are with the radio telescope in the back

We ended up stopping by a local beach that was beautiful. It looked like we were the only tourists there and lots of people were out in the water. Unfortunately we didn't bring our swimming suits so we just admired from a far.

Albert had perfect timing in catching this guy crashing on the surf board.

When we got home we went to the beach by our hotel and hung out in the pool a little bit. Believe it or not it was the first time in almost 2 yrs of being a couple that we ever went swimming together. Our back door leads out to the pool at our apt, but we never went during the summer.
